A 27-year-old woman has spoken of her horror after a freak accident involving a bottle of hairspray has left her wheelchair bound.
Lisa Kenny, from Newcastle, was kneeling on the floor getting her belongings out of a locker at work when the large can fell on her head.
At first she thought little of it, but the pain gradually spread to her neck, back, arms and legs – stopping her from walking.
The accident has also left the former administrator with anxiety, depression and forced her to retire.
She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia – a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body.Doctors said it was sparked by her neck jolting when she was struck by the can.
Ms Kenny said the freak accident ‘changed everything’ in her life and has stopped her from attending her beloved Zumba classes.
But, on the slow road to recovery, she is now able to walk for the first time in two and a half years and is even able to run in short bursts.

Ms Kenny said: ‘It was really painful but I just thought I was going to have a sore head.Then that night I started having neck pain which travelled to my spine.
‘It happened in October 2014 and by Christmas the pain had become so chronic I was in a wheelchair.
‘I started having panic attacks and flash backs and even developed depression.
‘I still can’t believe I have suffered so much just as a result of a can of hair spray hitting me on the head.’
Ms Kenny had been kneeling down while removing some belongings from the locker while on her lunch break when the accident happened.
The large can of hairspray fell off the top and struck her on the top of the head.

Ms Kenny added: ‘Before this happened I had a great life.I loved going to Zumba classes and out with my friends. But the freak accident changed everything’
She thinks someone had hung a cycling bag over the can to dry which had caused it to topple.
Ms Kenny went to her GP that evening, who told her to take opoids painkillers, but she gradually got worse and ended up in A&E.
